Do you need a quick handmade gift for the holiday season? Designer Susan B. Anderson has a collection of her favorite ornament or "charm" patterns: little mittens on a string, a tiny stocking, mini sweaters, and pint-sized trees. All patterns use fingering or sport weight yarns and can be worked in traditional holiday colors or colors of your choice. Susan suggests DPNs but these can also be worked with Two Circulars or Magic Loop. Don't like tiny yarns? Make 'em all bigger with DK or worsted weight yarns. These would be great gift-wrapping decorations or fun to hang on a tree.

US size 3 (3.25 mm) set of 5 DPNs OR 2 16-inch circular needles OR 1 40-inch circular needle

Gauge is 28 sts/ 4 inches, measured over color work stitch worked in the round, after blocking.

Nancy Vandivert happily admits to being a knitting nerd. She is a TKGA certified Master Hand Knitter and has had patterns published in CAST ON, Interweave Knits magazines, Knitty, Knit Picks, Blue Moon Fiber Arts Rockin’ Sock Club, and Twist Collective. She has taught knitting and crochet in the Rochester, NY area for over 20 years.
